What Say Ye? Part 1

Good morning friends and Happy New Year.

I know it's been a while I wrote any post. Anyway I'm back, and I believe this year will be one of total fruitfulness and uplift for us all.

We are in the 22nd day of the year, and I think this is a good time for us to have some introspection as to what we desire to make of our lives this year. As for me, one of my desires is to have a post on this blog at least once a week. I am also open and welcome to suggestions as to the day of the week, you'd like to see the post(s) uploaded. Thanks for your support last year.

Now that the preamble is over, can we cut to the chase, and start this new Blog Year with a bang? Sure we can, and we would.

Many people came to this year with expectations, aspirations, desires and resolutions. A lot even had a list(s) prepared. However, drawing up a list and having expectations is one thing, seeing those listed items become a reality is another.

One of the key factors, that would determine the actualisation of those dreams are the things you say. Hence the title, "What Say Ye?"

As much as I am not a fan of the King James Version of the Holy Bible, using the old English expression, "What Say Ye?" paints a clearer picture to the mind than "What Do You Say?" or "What Are You Saying"?, which are more modern expressions.

The approach to the post is to simply let you know that you're the 'prophet of your own life'. Whoop! Whoop!! Now I know many will be left aghast as their lips part with their mouths ajar, as they say, how dare you say, "I am the prophet of my own life," when I have pastors, bishops, and prophets declaring words over me.

Well, my friend, sorry to burst your bubble. But, you're actually the prophet of your own life. Regardless of what a pastor or prophet, or a spiritual authority declares over you if you are not in sync with such declarations, and your own words say a discordant tune, their words will fall to the ground and not produce a thing.

I am a student of the Bible, so we would take a leaf from it. Mark 11:22-24, a very popular scripture for those in the 'word of faith movement' says,
So Jesus answered and said to them, "Have faith in God.
"For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he shall have what he says. "Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them and you shall have them."

These words from the Master, was a response to a question from the disciples after they saw the effect of Jesus' word to the fig tree. In verses 12-14, we see the story of His encounter with the tree. Verse 14 says, In response Jesus said to it, "Let no one eat fruit from you ever again." And the disciples heard it.

So Jesus actually spoke in response to the fig tree. This implies that the fig tree possibly said to him, “Don’t you know that this is not my season to be fruitful? So why are you demanding fruit from me?” And Jesus straightaway declared fruitlessness upon it. The point I am making is that there was a dialogue going on that the disciples were not privy to, they only saw the outcome on seeing the tree wither later.

In explaining to them the process of the outcome they saw, He just clearly said, what you believe is expressed by the words you say. And saying those words should be done three times more than just mere believing, because in the real sense if you really believe something, you’d be willing to say it. So believing will never get the job done if not accompanied by words.

We also notice that Jesus did not say, that you’d have what I (Jesus) say, but that you’d have what you (as an individual) says.

Many of us are in situations and circumstances in our lives right now that seem to totally defy any kind of solution. But dear friend, truth be told once a problem exists, then the solution is available also. As you proceed in this New Year, I’d encourage you to take a hold of God’s infallible word. Get verses addressing the challenge and see the power of God released to cause a change as you declare those words out of your lips.

Remain blessed and remember the WORD WORKS ALWAYS.

We shall continue next week friends.

Selah.

  1. What if what we say is not in alignment with what God wants for us and we do no know straightaway? Are we still gonna have it if we declare it? What say ye then?

    1. @Adenike you've posed a very valid question. Now that's why towards the end of the post I hinted that we search for relevant scriptures in relation to an issue. Because there's no need declaring things we don't have God's word for, that would amount to manipulation. And faith begins where the will of God is known, and God's word is His will. Also there are things we desire that are clearly out of His will. In that case, it's better we seek to know His will before 'rushing' to pray and make declarations.
