No Longer a Slave [Part 2]

Good day friends, I trust you’ve had a great day so far and I believe you are in for better days ahead because your best days are ahead and not behind you. Let no one tell you about the “good old days,” because each new day is an opportunity handed over to us by the Most High to venture into newness.

With this understanding in place, I believe it’s cool for us to continue on how “Wrong Thinking” has enslaved many.

In the book of Numbers 13, the story is told about the 12 spies sent by Moses on a covert mission to the city of Canaan. 10 came back and gave a bad report while only 2, Joshua and Caleb brought cheerful news. Isn’t it funny that people name their children after Joshua and Caleb, but many cannot even remember the names of the other spies, myself inclusive? This brings to light the quote that says, “success has many children but failure is an orphan.”

In Verses 26-33, the scripture tells us of the reports brought back by both camps; the positive camp and the negative camp. Verse 33 is our main focus. It says, “There we saw the giants (the descendants of Anak came from the giants); AND WE WERE LIKE GRASSHOPPERS IN OUR OWN SIGHT, AND SO WERE WE IN THEIR SIGHT.”

The phrase, “And we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so were we in their sight,” shows how wrong thinking enslaves men. The people of the land of Canaan had not even seen the Israelites, not to talk of even had any kind of confrontation with them, but the Israelites had already conceded defeat in their minds even before the battle began. In Chapter 14 of Numbers, the Israelites started talking about returning to Egypt (the land of their former captors) and also proposed to Moses that Joshua and Caleb be stoned to death.

Of the lot who came to Canaan, only Joshua and Caleb made it into the Promised Land.

This is the same way many liberated Christians are enslaved by the enemy (the devil), all because they give and accord to him power and authority that he no longer has over their lives. And please note that Christians have ONLY one enemy, who is the devil, and NOT human beings. The devil came to steal, kill and to destroy (John 10:10).

Selah!

We would continue on “Wrong Thinking” in the next post as we delve into what the New Testament (the will and covenant we NOW live in) has to say about our liberty in Christ.
